A Rutherglen hair salon have proved they are a cut above the competition after being crowned the best stylists in Lanarkshire.
Aleighya’s Hair & Beauty Salon will now go forwards into the Grand Final for Scotland this Sunday (October 24).
The independent business, based on Stonelaw Road, took the prize at the recent Scotland’s Business Awards ceremony.

And the success left Natalie Hendren and her six strong team delighted – as well as shocked.
She told Lanarkshire Live : “We are all absolutely over the moon about this.
“This is actually for the 2020 awards – we found out we were nominated last year and the ceremony was originally supposed to take place on the day before lockdown ended up happening.
“So obviously that couldn’t go ahead, and as time went on the excitement had gone a bit, as you almost forget about it.
“But it was absolutely brilliant to win, as there’s a lot of great salons throughout Lanarkshire. The business awards are very tough, it’s not something where it’s just online votes.

“The organisers come round and have a chat with you and they also do mystery shoppers that mark you. They’ll look at everything in your business, from the reviews you get online to your communication skills online, before making their decision.
“For us to be there at the final as a small independent salon is huge – we’re flying solo representing the whole region at the final now. There’s lots of other great salons from across Scotland there, but who knows how we’ll do?”
But that wasn’t the only success for the team at Aleighya’s, as on the the same weekend as their regional win at the business awards, they were also listed as one of the top 10 hair salons for the south west of Scotland at the Scottish Beauty Awards.

Natalie says the awards have been a huge boost after the tough times caused by the coronavirus, with the various lockdowns forcing the salon to close on three separate occasions.
She’s grateful to her loyal customers for sticking with the salon, which she opened eight years ago, and to her hard-working staff.
She added: “The clients were amazing as they have stood by us during the lockdown and always been supporting us. The staff have been phenomenal too. It’s been a tough couple of years right across the whole industry, and I am just so grateful for this.”
The Grand Final ceremony will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow this Sunday.
