Matt Damon has offloaded his incredible LA mansion, but had to do so after taking a hit his famous character Jason Bourne would be proud of.

Matt Damon has offloaded his incredible Los Angeles mansion, but had to do so after taking a hit his famous character Jason Bourne would be proud of.

The Hollywood superstar had to knock a heartburn-inducing US$3.1million (A$4.3million) off the asking price of the US$21m (A$29m) seven bedroom palatial estate in affluent Pacific Palisades area in the north west of LA.

The Bourne Supremacy star has long been one of Hollywood’s most ‘bankable stars’ but no vendor would be happy dropping the sale price of their home by around 15 per cent before they could find a committed buyer.

The house has sat unloved on the market since January and was finally sold just weeks after its asking price was slashed.

On the bright side Damon, the star of the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder with his good mate Chris Hemsworth and fellow Aussie Russell Crowe, made a $US2.9 million profit on the home, not including renovation costs and agency fees, New York post reported.

Either figure wouldn’t impact too much upon Damon’s hip pocket, with the 50-year-old ranked as one of the highest grossing actors ever, with his movies earning a total of US$3.88 billion.

‘Aussie’ Matt Damon has spent plenty of time in and around Byron Bay with Hemsworth over the past few years but moved his family to New York City’s Brooklyn Heights in the US summer last year.

He bought the luxury penthouse in 2018 for $US16.5 million which was then the most paid for an apartment which has an uninterrupted view of the Manhattan skyline, in the trendy suburb.

Locals reported the street was closed off for a day to allow the Damons to move in and a crane was used to transport crates, trees and decking onto his terrace.

Damon’s former Palisades home was built in 2005 and sat on half an acre of land. It has seven bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.

According to the listing: The Zen-inspired architectural haven features numerous amenities, including a game room, bar, office, gym, media room, staff quarters and wine room.
